In Our Own Voice
Are you interested in becoming an In Our Own Voice presenter? In Our Own Voice helps you frame your experience as mental health recovery and gives you the tools to share your story in a way that resonates with audiences in an impactful way.
The training ensures that you are mentally prepared to retell painful experiences, which can be triggering without support tools to ensure telling your story is a moment of reflection, recovery, and strength, honoring what you’ve been through and how far you’ve come.
To become an In Our Own Voice presenter, please fill out our Volunteer Application and/or contact our Program Manager at programs@namicentraloregon.org.
Sharing Your Story with Law Enforcement (SYSLE)
NAMI’s Sharing Your Story with Law Enforcement (SYSLE) training prepares individuals and family members to share their stories of lived experience with mental illness during law enforcement trainings, such as Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training.
Sharing stories of mental health crisis and recovery help law enforcement officers have a greater understanding of mental illness, increases empathy, and encourages officers to engage more effectively during crisis calls.
This program is designed to provide speakers for any law enforcement audience via a simple training format that prepares the presenter for success, increases confidence, and helps ensure their message is well received.
Interested in this training? Please fill out our Volunteer Application and/or contact our Volunteer Coordinator at recruiting@namicentraloregon.org to sign up for the training.
